Had my other results back from a private cdt....test at nuffield the 1st set were 0.8% but had to go back for a re-bleed..and in 2 weeks it dropped to 0.6% you can not get any lower than 0.6% right
What were your drinking habits before the test any binges like myself ?Had my other results back from a private cdt....test at nuffield the 1st set were 0.8% but had to go back for a re-bleed..and in 2 weeks it dropped to 0.6% you can not get any lower than 0.6% right
Not that bad really if am honest..but the doctor said I was dependent on alcohol so I had to wait the year out before I could reapply for licence agian joker... even tho I may have to abstain 4 life if dvla deem it necessary.. it only took me 2 months to get them results.. so like what's the ponit in dvla saying you need to abstain 4 life when you can just go the 2months without alcohol.. if they put you 9n a medical licenceWhat were your drinking habits before the test any binges like myself ?
Sorry who said you was dependent your doctor to the Dvla ??? Why would they say that, I’m worried about the questionnaire they give you if I put I’ve had a drink they will refuse me. I’m pretty sure my doctor has not reason to say I’m dependent I mean I had an ulcer once from bad alcohol and spicy food but I’ve never had like help for it or anythingNot that bad really if am honest..but the doctor said I was dependent on alcohol so I had to wait the year out before I could reapply for licence agian joker... even tho I may have to abstain 4 life if dvla deem it necessary.. it only took me 2 months to get them results.. so like what's the ponit in dvla saying you need to abstain 4 life when you can just go the 2months without alcohol.. if they put you 9n a medical licence
The form that they send to you doctor is called A DD2 form and can be found online....Sorry who said you was dependent your doctor to the Dvla ??? Don’t worry we’ve all been there, It seems like the end of the world at the beginning but you get used to not driving and my two years have flown by.
HRO sucks as they give you community service which is degrading however it’s the punishment and you will never consider the same mistake again trust me I will never drive even the next day after drinking. Good luck with your court day and I hope they aren’t too harsh on you.

I’ve just got off the phone to my doctor he has confirmed no alcohol dependency or misuse on my records however said the dependency of diazepam will have to be mentioned but they will advise I’ve been free of this medication for over a year and it was prescribed, the doctor was actually really nice and left notes for the GP who fills it out.If you were prescribed the medication, and took them as prescribed the. It is not a ‘dependency’ as such... just that you were taking medication under the doctors supervision. So long as your GP confirms this then it should not be a problem with DVLA.
The 2.1 and 1.6 relates to ‘ordinary” people. You are in the “special” category of being alcohol dependent and this requires abstention from alcohol, permanently. You will be likely to get a temporary 1 year licence if you can show you have abstained, but will face the same process for 6 years.
As has been said, you need to show regular checks and test results from your GP for the past year before you even get a 1 year licence.
It is set out here:
Drug or alcohol misuse or dependence: assessing fitness to drive
Advice for medical professionals to follow when assessing drivers with drug or alcohol misuse or dependence.www.gov.uk
Dependence confirmed by medical enquiry
Also refer to alcohol related seizure below✘- Must not drive and must notify the DVLA.
Licence will be refused or revoked until after a minimum of 1 year free of alcohol problems.
Abstinence is required, with normalised blood parameters if relevant.✘- Must not drive and must notify the DVLA.
Licence will be refused or revoked in all cases of any history of alcohol dependence within the past 3 years.
Abstinence is required, with normalised blood parameters if relevant.
For both driving groups:
■ licensing will require satisfactory medical reports from a doctor
■ the DVLA may need to arrange independent medical examination and blood tests
■ referral to and the support of a consultant specialist may be necessary.
Yes, you are correct that based on what you say it should be straightforward for you to get your licence back. Sometimes they write to your GP for no apparent reason.. so if they tell you they are writing to him then get in touch with the surgery and beg them to do a quick turnaround to prevent delay. DVLA only chase the GP after 6 weeks have elapsed.
Had your results yet ??Thanks for your reply buddy.... oh, they don't say that then do they, that there's another level for the others (misuse, dep) ... anyway had my test yesterday, big needle, yuck lol, doc seemed ok, he seemed more bothered about me having a cold and wanted me to get tested for covid-19 ... he made me touch my nose and also follow and touch his finger, he touch my belly in places, he said i was fit for my age.... stop drinking for 32 days before hand, so i think my CDT level will be well below 1% tbh

The current DVLA letters are saying that they don't expect to hear back from your GP for 12 weeks (due to COVID). Whether this means they won't chase before 12 weeks are up, I don't know. I would hope that most GP's (especially if you've already spoken to them and they are supportive, as mine was) are able to get these forms back far quicker than 12 weeks in any case. If you think your GP may be contacted I think the general advice from others on this forum is to try to speak to your GP before your medical, which I'd certainly agree with. Not only will this help ensure that your GP doesn't contradict something you say at the medical if DVLA does contact them, but it should also help to speed up their turnaround of the form they get sent.
It isn't as if you are asking for a favour, the GP is paid by the DVLA to fill in the form which will take around 5 minutes. It is in their best interest to fill it in sooner rather than later as they will get paid quicker. Perhaps he was being a bit pessimistic at timescale, tell him you'll book an appointment twice a week to see him until it is filled in, I'm sure he'll find time to fill it in quicker than 4 weeks in that scenario!!!Yeah spoken to my GP and my medical isn’t until next week. He told me they don’t prioritise these forms and it normally takes 4 weeks for them to deal with. I’d imagine each surgery is different so 4 weeks is certainly better than 12!
That said, if DVLA do write to me to advise they have written to my GP, I will as advised, contact them and beg for them to do the form quickly and send back to DVLA. From what my GP said when I spoke to him, the form would take a matter of minutes as I have no red flags and a clean medical file. With that in mind, it’s not as if I’d be asking the doctor to take a huge amount of time out of their day job for me.
My surgery won't reply to DVLA until they have been paid, and DVLA wont pay them until they have replied with the appropriate information!!It isn't as if you are asking for a favour, the GP is paid by the DVLA to fill in the form which will take around 5 minutes. The surgery have now said that this is their policy!
Catch 22!!
They have agreed that I can pay the fee (£40) in person for them to proceed!!
DVLA have advised against this as I may not be reimbursed, but my job depends on it!!
So Monday morning I'm paying myself!!
Not all alcoholics are swigging from vodka on park benches you know! I don't know you, I don't know exactly how much you drink but I do know you are just as likely to be an alcoholic as someone drinking at 11am as you didn't learn from your first time of being banned.Hi everybody.
I am pretty shocked with some of the stuff I'm reading. People taking supplements and not drinking for months before a medical? Is it really that sensitive? Not downplaying, genuinely curious.
I unfortunately have been banned for my second time, i was a HRO the first time too so had a medical. I was around 21, working away from home, drinking most nights 4-6 pints, went to Ibiza for a week, drinking most of the day, got back and had my medical a week afterwards and passed!
Maybe I passed because my metabolism was so quick.
So I'm a little concerned from looking through the forum. The last couple of months I've been busy, couple of holidays, weekends away. Drinking and eating! I had my birthday recently so a few meals to many, etc. This last week I have been enjoying a few last blasts with friends due to the next lockdown.
My medical is just over 2 weeks away. I genuinely thought you'd only fail if your the sort of person to drink wine and vodka at 11am, etc. I.e. an alcoholic.
Should I be concerned I might fail? Is there anybody with similar drinking habits prior to the medical that have passed?
Thanks in advance
George
