No timescale for getting license back!

I am wondering if anyone else is having a similar experience or can offer advice please.

My friend had a driving disqualification which ended November 2020. He reapplied for his license and was asked to take a medical which he did in early December 2020. The DVLA confirmed receipt of his medical results in early Jan 2021, but he has still not received his license!

He has called the DVLA a few times and has been told each time that it is with the medical team, and they have no timescales to work towards, basically he just has to wait. It's been 5 months now since they received his medical and still no license or correspondence.

Can anyone offer any advice? He is a self employed tradesman and this is severely restricting the work he is able to do.

Firstly he should check with his GP to see if they have received a questionnaire from DVLA and if so, have they returned it and when.
(If not, hurry up!)
Of they have returned it some time ago, or not had any correspondence from DVLA, he should email medicalsupport@dvla.gov.uk and ask to be told within 7 days what is happening.
Failing that, he should email Tim.burton@dvla.gov.U.K. And ask for his help as this has gone n for an unreasonable amount of time.

All this should produce a result... one way or the other.
