Hi,

I recently have been convicted with dr10 (recently posted on this forum).

I had noticed in my local newpaper (online), they report and name all convictions from the local magistrates court in the past month.

I just wondered is this normal, did it happen where you are?

Cheers

On our courses we get a lot of people who say that there case was in the newspapers. This varies from a column titled "in court this week were:" to full stories - usually reserved for the more dramatic cases or prominent local people.
To be honest, it is a lottery. The courts are open to any member of the public to attend (unless it is a youth court) and observe, and because of this, the press are entitled to report on proceedings as they see fit. Reporting drink drive cases seems to be more prevalent in more rural areas, as perhaps the big cities have bigger cases to report. I heard recently from a course member who said he bought every local evening newspaper in his village for a week, to try and stop his neighbours finding out, should they decide to publish his case!
