Drink driving and DBS checks

New member
Hi, I have recently been charged with drink driving, I have been given a fine and a 17 month ban. Please can you tell me if I am in a regulated activity job where I am required to have an enhanced DBS, will this conviction show up? Also please could you let me know if a drink driving conviction will prevent me from continuing in my role? I work with young children. Thank you
Drink driving is a recordable criminal conviction so it will show up on a DBS check. With regards to the impact on your current role, this would depend on the terms of your employment and your exact job role within the sector. Certain regulated professional such social workers may be required to disclose the conviction to their professional regulator. This may result in the regulating body opening a fitness to practise investigation. The conviction will remain relevant on your record for 5 years.
