Car Hire and Travel abroad with DR30 on License

Hi All,

Just wondering if anybody has had any experience with the effects of a DR30 on your license in terms of hiring a car in the UK or abroad, also travelling to other countries with the drink driving criminal conviction.

I've had a look on google but there are so many conflicting theories and stories, I have seen that countries like Mexico have a zero tolerance for people entering with drink driving convictions etc, and that you are screwed in hiring a car for nearly 11 years......

I have a DR10 and I was turned down for hiring a van in the UK, I was told that it had to be off my licence to hire which means 11 years from the date of the offence. I'm not sure, I know that in the US that the DR10 has to be off your licence to hire a car as well.
