My ban finished in 2019. I am now thinking of buying a van , taking my own insurance and becoming a self employed courier ,registering with agencies . Will the DR10 affect this?

I don't know the 'in's & out's' or the 'why's & wherefores' of self employed driving, but I suspect your biggest stumbling block will be business insurance cover with both a DR10 and an unspent conviction.
I believe most employers get quite itchy feet employing drivers with live DUI convictions and live DR10s, but there are people on this forum who have secured employment in the past in professional driving roles.
Self employment is different, but I believe if you work on a franchise type agreement with some parcel delivery companies like Amazon, then your driving documents are still disclosable to the business you are conducting work for.
I would certainly do your homework before you start investing in a new van. Maybe if you try and contact some delivery company Transport Managers and just ask the question.

A courier would require hire & reward insurance rather than commuting/class 1 business use. If you are needing to arrange this or would like an indication as to the cost there is a specialist branch within A-Plan that can look at that kind of cover with a DR10 conviction.
Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
