Well looks like Im the first to post.

I stupidly drove my car from a friends house last friday night. Didnt have that much to drink (about 3 cans in the space of about 6 hours). There was trouble at my friends house so I decided to leave. Couldnt get a taxi so I thought I would drive the short distance home.

I had only had the car 3 days, wasnt used to driving it and ended up hitting a garden wall. I drove off but the police arrested me about 30 mins later as I fitted the description of the person driving the car, was breathlyzed and I admitted to driving. Wasnt even that much over the limit. My breath reading was 58mg. I was prosecuted for the same thing 10 years ago so Im looking at a minimum 3 year ban according to the sentencing guidelines on this web site. Maybe some community service. What do you think?

I could kick myself!! I have just moved to a rural location as well, public transport is virtually non existant. What a fool, I wish I had just stayed at my friends now, trouble or no trouble :(

Hi,

Welcome to the forums. You are correct in thinking you will get a minimum of a 3 year ban. Because you have a previous drink drive conviction in the past 10 years you will be classed as a high risk offender. What will go in your favour is your alcohol reading. It isnt particulary high. Community service may be a possibility. Let us know how you get on and good luck.

A spur of the moment decision from which the consequences will last for a number of years, high insurance premiums etc. I hope your court case goes well for you. Good luck.

Hi,

Well I was up at court today, not an experience I wish to repeat! I received a 3 year ban, £60.00 court costs and 200 hours community service. I was also offered the chance to go on the drink driving course which I didnt think I would get being my second offence and all, I can remember I went on the course last time. The course is going to cost £150.00, but it will be well worth it because it will knock 9 months off my driving ban.

I can safely say I will never ever drink and driver ever again. I have been so stressed out about it all. I miss my car already but I can live with that. Im just glad it is all over and I know it could have been a whole lot worse.
