Specialist DD Insurers

Hi guys. Got my full licence back yesterday after a 20 month (after course) ban.

I have tried the usual comparison sites for insurance but can anyone recommend a list of specialist DD insurers who I should contact before making a final decision?

Dunno about a list but i use Adrian Flux (recommended by the course guys). they gave me a reasonable quote for the 1st year - but by the 2nd it had gone up, looked at compare the market and got a quote half the price, switched to that. When AF found out I was cancelling they called me back with another quote, substantially undercutting the Compare the market quote .. so they are capable of getting really good prices, but appear a bit opportunistic.

Have you got a number for these guys and could I ask what car you got insured on

They are brokers so will go away and search for a decent quote - I had heard some less than good reviews but I found them pleasant and efficient - albeit with a slight nudge when the 2nd year came back higher. They insured me on a golf R so a pretty quick car and the quote they found was very competitive.

I used the Click 2 Call banner at the top of this page. Then I had about 3 or 4 brokers phone me one of whom got me a deal only slightly more expensive than before my ban.
In my case the best way was not the usual comparison website and the key is to actually talk to someone rather than rely on an algorithm to figure it out. I know some people might feel anxious about taking to someone about their ban but I found that they were all very none judgemental and were just getting along with their job.
 
My psychic powers were obviously on point yesterday. See how I planted that entire paragraph in her mind !
