I lost all my NCB so the first year of insurance was a hefty three figure sum. Only 1 year of NC brought it down by £200. Posting this as you're a car person but as I'm now well over five years out I'm also insured for my partners 911. There is light at what can seem like a very long tunnel.

I really would recommend anyone in a position such as us shops around. The prices vary hugely. I've been back on the road since June 2022 and have seen prices range from good to insane.
Also, I've used some of the 'specialist' insurers too Don't be afraid to speak to them on the phone. They do not judge at all and are just doing their job. In fact yesterday I had to renew and I had some great advice of a 'specialist' broker about another issue I had (a by product of my ban) that actually turned out to be a none issue after taking their advice.

specialist broker you say? my friends had recommended me some but i wasn’t sure if i could trust them
