Note through doors

My husband crashed my car in June and was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. They took blood as couldn’t get breath result. We’ve heard nothing at all since until today when all our neighbours have had these through the door. Why would they be asking for witnesses now? He admitted it straightaway and cooperated fully. Is it possible they’ve lost the blood or something? Or is this standard process?

It will have nothing to do with blood being lost.
they may well ahve submitted the file to CPS who have asked them to 'beef up the case' before starting court proceedings.
