As of the 2nd March 2015, in England and Wales, it will be an offence for a person to drive, attempt to drive or be in charge of a motor vehicle on a road or other public place while a person has a specified controlled drug in their body and the proportion of that specified controlled drug in a persons blood or urine exceeds the maximum legal specified limit for that drug.
16 controlled drugs have been specified, 8 illegal drugs and 8 medical drugs. Legal limits have been set for each drug and preliminary road side drug testing kits will be available to police forces across England and Wales in order to help enforce the new laws. You can read more about the new drug driving laws here.
