Hi,

I’ve had a driving ban that lasted from 14/12/17 til 04/03/19 and was just wondering if i’d still be able to get a mortgage?

thanks,
Will

A DR10 will remain on your driving record for a period of 11 years, and will result in a criminal record for a period of 5 years.

A DR10 may become relevant if a mortgage lender requires you to disclose any unspent convictions. A DR10 does result in a criminal record and would be a disclosable offence for a period of 5 years. After this, the offence would become exempt from being disclosed under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, as it would then be deemed ‘spent’.

It may be that the conviction could have other effects, such as increasing insurance premiums, for both your home and your car.

You will have to enquire with your lender, to establish what information it is that you would be required to disclose in relation to your mortgage application although I would anticipate that this is unusual.
