To revoke a licence for three years would usually occur if the DVLA assess you as 'dependent' on alcohol and the licence in question is a group 2 (Bus or lorry licence). The DVLA do not take the impact of a revocation on the individual into account and take the stance that any decision making process is based on protection of both the individual and the wider public.
