Insurance question

Due in court on Thursday and expect to receive an 18 month ban. My question is when do I have to inform my insurer? My renewal isn't until July 2011 (I paid for it all up front, not direct debit), so is it then when I have to inform them? Obviously I won't be driving the car until well after then anyway. As my wife can drive and is on insurance I'd rather not declare anything until I have to. If my wife has an accident, is it only her own convictions (i.e. none) that the insurer would ask for on any claim form?

You can still drive up until you have to appear in court. If it were me, i'd inform my insurance company on the day i got sentenced.

FWIW Tesco excluded me from the policy and moved my wife up to be the main driver. This cost me an increased premium of £24 and a policy amendement fee of £15, so not too onerous.
