On my existing insurance policy I have other drivers. Can they continue to drive my vehicle fully covered once my ban is in place ?

If you have no licence, you can't have insurance. When you let your insurance company know that you have been banned, they will more than likely cancel your policy and therefore the car needs to be taken off the road and SORN.

If one of the other drivers wants to take insurance out on the car that is fine, but it will need to be a new policy or assign your current policy over to them if your insurer allows it.

A Plan Insurance

Insurance Experts
Good Afternoon, This would all depend on your current insurance provider. Once you have advised of your ban they may be able to leave your policy running which could allow the named drivers to drive the vehicle. Most insurers however would find this unacceptable as you no longer hold a full UK Licence and would cancel your insurance policy.
Here in A-Plan have access to specialist insurers who would allow us to set up a policy in your name and exclude you from driving. We would then be able to add on the named drivers who would be able to drive your vehicle.
Please call our office on 01256 777592 and we will be delighted to offer you a quotation on this basis.
