Good day to all,

Where shall I start well at the beginning is best.

I was caught drink driving at 2 times over the limit, it is the worst mistake I have ever made. I almost lost my job, in the end I did loose it and it proved to be a difficult time for me, only gaining temp work and moving several times. I was caught and banned for two years in April 2012, I received a 2 year ban , 1 years probation, an £80 fine & had to do the DID course over a 14 week period.

I moved to Manchester in 2014 and did not need to re-apply as I could get around easily there and a vehicle was an unnecessary expense. I have since re-located as I started a relationship and have decided to get my licence more as a way of feeling restored really but would like the freedom to drive.

I aim to provide an honest and frank portrayal of the DVLA - CDT - medical process as there does seem to be some inconsistency in the stories. E.G "I had a binge a week before the test, the binge was 1.5 bottles of wine" . We know this is probably more like 3.5 bottles of wine and several other drinks.

By the way Im not having a go , Im trying to be honest, this will be my journey from 15th July 2018 to test day which is on the 29th August 2018 & beyond.

I started my journey on 15th July after the world cup. I will be posting my drink diary, which is 100% honest. I have had a drink but never more than three and not regular at all.

I will post the diary tomorrow. Here is my regime :

Im 38 years old, no pre existing medical conditions, I work 9-5 , I walk three miles a day in that process, I smoke 15-20 roll ups per day although I have started using a vape as well in an effort to cut down. I take 380MG Milk thistle capsules

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Milk-Thi...hash=item3d53bbfbff:m:mRLL5zHQCmV2P3tnc84KTSQ

I take 1050MG cod liver oil with vitamin D

200MG multi vitamins and iron

I drink 2-3 litres of water a day

I eat three square meals , including vegetables

I applied for the medical on 30/07/2018 and didn't get the paperwork until today. As soon as you see the £90 go from your account get onto the DVLA straight away, and keep checking, ring between 10-12 & 2pm on for quietest times.

Lucky I did as my paper work only came through but I already knew who and where the medical was going to be. I called and they said they couldn't reserve the appointment and only had the 31st August, after this 1st on I will be on holiday so it was imperative I got in before the 1st September, today they had the paperwork and the appointment had gone.

I called the DVLA today and asked if they had any other Drs, I explained that I had been working for 6 weeks on this and needed to get in as I have the holiday from 1-12 September and then my works do, which is a 3 day overseas trip, obviously I wont be passing anything after those trips. Luckily they gave me three Drs and the last one had availability next wednesday. PHEW.

I will update you, if you want to ask questions please do, I will post the diary tomorrow. Please remeber guys & girls what we were taught in the DID course.

Everyones body digests alcohol differently, keep a drink diary & most important be honest with yourself and other

Ciao for now , be seeing you

Interesting thread and thanks for sharing will be interesting
Am wondering when and how you became an HRO also are you planning to be honest with the Dr's forms regarding the quauntaties of Alcohol consumed thanks

Thanks for the reply

I was convicted in April 2012 , 2 year ban , 1 year probation £80 fine & had to do the 14 week drink impaired drivers course

I will be honest I have consumed 15.8 units in 6 weeks will be 7 when the test is taken, I believe there are elements of the DIPDC that the Drs and DVLA want to see demonstrated and a drink diary is one of them as it was prevalent during the course. I could be wrong but lets see.

Thanks , off to work now, alcohol free lol

Am confused to how you were given an HRO @ only twice over the limit it's normally about 4x the limit to have an auto HRO status

I am sure Random10 will tell us his result, but in the meantime I will point out that a breath reading of 88 or more makes you a HRO. A reading of 90-119 attracts a ban of 23-28 months, so if he got a 2 year ban, that suggests that his reading was 90 or more, hence the HRO status....

Thanks Price
Wasn't doubtful of his results it's just it was stated I was caught 2 times over the limit
Sorry continue onwards eager for the results

Hi All,

Sorry couldn't post diary yesterday they are on my work PC and it got hacked yeaterday, however I will post tonight , all things being well.
I think I was 102 MG of alcohol.

Ciao for now

Most post relating to CDT come from concerned posters whom are drinking either close to government guidelines or above the 14 units per week hence the requirement for longer ranges of abstinence # if CDT level are high through consistently drinking above limits it takes a while for them to drop especially if you add in 1 or more binge sessions.

Your levels will cause no alarm and n someone drinking 1 week of guidelines over a 6 week period quote
Total Units 15.8 / 45 days = 0.351 Per Day will never cause alarm but am sure there's something to learn!

Thanks for that, I was drinking over the recommended, it was the world cup so.........

Also I have had sore throat and had a dose of corvonia only to realize it has alcohol in, hope this doesn't effect anything

Anyway test day tomorrow guys , will let you know how it goes and what happens next ..............

Good luck, and don’t worry about the Covonia. Even if it was the 300ml bottle, and you drank it all, it would only be about 2.3 units, about the same as a pint of Guinness!

OK so DVLA wrote back to me and wanted extra information from my Dr , who I hadnt seen for two years and when I did it was for depression, so I eagerly awaited a response with apprehension, I kept onto the Dr and they said it can take 3 weeks for someone to fill in the questionnaire. Well they got round to it and another week after it was sent DVLA issued me a long term licence.

Its been a long journey from medical to issue 2 months and 24 days to be precise but it can be done.

Milk thistle, abstinence and will power , check out my drink diary and journey. It worked for me

Thanks for your support
