DVLA Coronavirus (COVID-19) update: DVLA are now processing paper applications, however these will take longer to process as the DVLA are working with reduced staff to meet social distancing requirements. If your application requires medical information or examinations there are likely to be delays also.

Well done, pre Covid I would have expected DVLA to have contacted your GP before issuing your licence. Perhaps they are missing that out more, realising that answers are hard to get from medical practices at the moment.

I may think that as well, also they may have far less staff too... or maybe as well, they just got a very low CDT %

once again thanks for your help matey

Congrats

Mine came back today, I'm chuffed. Same ban as you, I blew less but have only been given a 12-month. I think it is because I failed my first CDT, but proved it was due to meds and not alcohol, and second would have been practically trace as I hadn't drank since Jan. Up to me to pass with flying colours again next year, let's hope for no COVID delays (my 6-month was a waste of time).

So, what did you answer on your med questionaire .... ?

Does this effect your insurance as in, you can only say about having a 1 year license?

Will they give you a full one after you prove yourself etc?

thanks for the congrats! Never going to drink drive again, felt so bad too, it was the cops who made me think about it, good chaps

congrats. What a feeling it must be.

Your CDT must have been really low but I suspect as mentioned, the DVLA may be laying off GP’s given the current climate - of course, unless your CDT is high and they’d be keft

I was 0.8 beginning of August with Medichecks.

Medical this Friday. Hoping for 0.8 at the highest and GP being avoided, but prepared to beg if required with GP for a quick turnaround 🙏

Happy driving 👌

I have no idea yet. No paperwork or explanation, but it could be due to mental health.

I’ll report back on the forum when I have everything resolved. Waiting times etc.

I think it’s very easy to get yourself wound up and stressed when reading a lot of experiences.

Everyone’s experience is clearly real, but everyone’s circumstances are different and it’s easy to get drawn into the horror stories and start panicking.

I expect zero issues other than waiting times. CDT will be low. Confirmed no red flags by GP on my medical file. Last drink in June. No drink issues at all and that will be recorded on my questionnaire.

A lot of extreme stories are from people who are repeat offenders, history of alcohol problems etc and these are the cases that seem to grow arms and legs.
