Re: Getting a USA visa
To all the concerned above (and Miss Marple =o) )
I have just got back from my 2 week stay in Florida after weeks of worry and anxious thoughts of being able to get into America with my friends and partner as I have a drink drive conviction.
I shall make my story short, I have a conviction from 2006. I read that I needed a visa to enter America so I rang the US Embassy who agreed that I needed one also. I paid the $140 over the telephone, gave them details, passport number, date of flying etc. I never went through with the application and decided to risk it.
As you can see I have returned from my holiday and I must emphasize this greatly to all of you who are worried about being granted entry that you have absolutely nothing to worry about!! DONT get a visa!!! Its a waste of money. You only need a visa if you have been charged of a crime involving moral turpitude which does NOT include a DUI. When you fill in your ESTA, you tick the box of NO, you have not committed a crime involving moral turpitude because you have not.
I went through customs at Manchester with no problems and the American customs were the nicest people I have met. They want you to enter their country and enjoy yourself and they are so welcoming. I was a bag of nerves but I had nothing to worry about.
I hope this puts a few minds at rest and if I can help any further then please dont hesitate to ask.
