Finally got my licence back yesterday.
After a 4 years and four days. My ban was for 13 months, but other medical issues meant I couldn't apply until March this year if I was to have any chance of success.
I got a one year medical licence, but that was the best result I was expecting.
Thanks to those wise heads on this site who have helped me at times of confusion - you know who you are. This forum is really valuable and the fact that some people give up a lot of their time to help others is greatly appreciated by everyone I'm sure - I've read a lot more than I have posted and it has helped enormously.
All I would say to those who are going through the HRO medical process (whether it's complicated like mine or more straightforward) is don't despair. One day you will be celebrating.
Oh and a piece of advice: if you think there is any chance they will speak to your GP (which they probably will), try to speak to them first and to through the DR1 form before your medical and make sure that you are both giving exactly the same information, dates and so on.
