The only vehicle you can use whilst disqualified is an electric bike that conforms to these standards.
S.189(1)(c) of
The Road Traffic Act 1988 [1] creates legislation stating EAPC's shall not be classed as motor vehicles, it states:
140 Certain vehicles not to be treated as motor vehicles
(1) For the purposes of this act—
[...]
- an electrically assisted pedal cycle of such class as may be prescribed by regulations so made,
shall be treated as not being a motor vehicle.
EAPC Requirements
In the UK if an electric bike meets the EAPC requirements laid out in The Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles Regulations 1983
[2] and The Pedal Cycles (
Construction and Use) Regulations 1983
[3], it can be legally ridden by anyone over the age of 14 without the need for registration, vehicle excise duty (
Road Tax), insurance coverage and a valid driving licence.
An electronic power assisted bike can be rode on cycle tracks and anywhere else a standard bicycle can be rode.
