I applied for my licence 21st March and was scanned into the system 12th of May.So I've just rang the DVLA for the first time as I reapplied for my licence on 16th May (already over 5 weeks into the process). They told me it was scanned onto the system on 10th June and waiting to be reviewed.... Does this mean I have a while to wait yet before I get the medical letter through the door?!
Wow, you had quite a wait between applying to scanned onto system! Mines been scanned quicker than that so things must getting (slightly) better with the dvla. Thanks for the reply and well wishes! Fingers crossed indeed!!I applied for my licence 21st March and was scanned into the system 12th of May.
I received my medical letter 3 weeks after that so if your waiting time is anything like mine I'd imagine you'll receive your medical letter end of next week - hopefully sooner tho! Fingers crossed for you
Good luck - I sent my application mid March, cheque cashed mid April - still not received my medical letter! So I've just rang the DVLA for the first time as I reapplied for my licence on 16th May (already over 5 weeks into the process). I have a theory from speaking to my husband about the different delay times for different people. Where abouts do you both live? I live in Cheshire and I've heard that things have ran quite smoothly around here for medicals from a few people around here. One guy in this group was assigned to a clinic in Altrincham near me and got his licence back quite quick. I'm wondering whether we're all categorised into our regions and some regions are going quicker than others to process through the DVLA.I sent my application on the10 Feb received 11Feb registered post cheque cashed 14 March still waiting this is my second application
I live in Greater London - my understanding is that all applications are dealt with centrally since they closed all the regional officesI have a theory from speaking to my husband about the different delay times for different people. Like I said, just a theory and could be totally wrong!!
It just begs to differ why some people are waiting longer than others. There has to be something of the likes for this to be happeningI live in Greater London - my understanding is that all applications are dealt with centrally since they closed all the regional offices
Yup, this will be me too once I finally have my medical!! Chasing them every single day. Good for you, keep going! XHad my medical on the 14th June. Bloods received by DVLA onnthe 16th June and paperwork on the 21st June (yes I am on the phone alot making sure they've received everthing).
AMAZING!!! CONGRATULATIONS! Sooo happy for you!!Absolutely gobsmacked and delighted today...
I had my medical 8 days ago, I've just checked online and as of tomorrow I'll be the proud owner of a Full 10 Year Driving License.
What's shocked me most is how perfectly the timing has worked out.
My 33 month ban expires TODAY so I won't have to suffer the dreaded extension caused by the backlogs of the DVLA.
I was expecting weeks if not months to be bolted onto the end of a ban that's already felt like forever.
Thank you so much to all the help and support from everyone on this fantastic forum.
Although I've now got my licence back I intend to remain an active participant of this group to help others like so many have helped me.
It's been a marathon undertaking all this waiting and worrying, but like any undertaking - it's worth it in the end.
Best of luck to everyone
Absolutely excellent post .Decided to post my timeline on here as others have been very useful to me.
Banned Oct 2019 for 41 Months - reduced to 32.2 Months with the DD Awareness Course.
HRO due to road side breathalyser reading - this was also my 2nd DD offence (had a 26 month ban in 2014) so I was extremely lucky to be offered the DD awareness course again.
Pretty much got my licence back 90 days after my initial application which I was very surprised at. Was convinced it would take considerably longer. I feel very lucky.

Getting my licence back was the last piece of the puzzle rebuilding my life..
I couldn't be happier.
I sent my application in September and only just had my medical, gone down as high priority after constantly ringingSo still not received my letter to book a medical having sent my application in March.
Managed to speak to someone at DVLA & she gave me the usual script of ‘Covid-19, previous strike, can’t give a timescale’ and all that bollocks.
Wrote to my MP who said he has taken this up with DVLA - hopefully this might help speed things up
