Hi there,

Can one drive in France if banned in the UK? I've heard from DDI courses that you can as your only banned in the UK, guess a photcopy of the licnece would be needed.

A disqualification in the UK is not enforceable in France. However, you would have to hold a valid licence to be able to drive in France, eg a valid UK licence (which you no longer have), a French licence or an internatioanl licence.

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply.

Checked with the DVLA, advised you are not banned from driving in France (only southern ireland, gibralta, NI UK) and entitled to drive on the continent. Apparently they can fax an entitlement if need be. As French insurance insures the car and anyone with a licence (copy, fax from DVLA) is entitled to drive.

Still much easier not to DD in the first instance.
