Drink driving

Hello I got stopped by police for driving whilst intoxicated my reading came back as 90 I was 10 mins away from my home when I was driving. It’s my first time offence, I have had a clean licence, I have had a licence for 5 years. I have never been in trouble with the police. How long do you think I will get or what my outcome will be ?

The reading is quite high so you are looking at a ban and some community punishment (usually a work order). Have a look at the sentencing guidelines as they will help.

Will they offer me a driving course to reduce my ban in my circumstances as it’s my first offence and do you think I should get a solicitor or write an apology letter to help ?

They don't automatically offer the course so you should ask for it and make clear that you would benefit from it.

A solicitor would make a big difference. There is still an outside chance of a fine rather than a ban and a good solicitor would have the best chance.
