Important Forthcoming Changes to Scottish LegislationThe Road Traffic Act 1988 (Prescribed Limit) (Scotland) Regulations 2014 will come into force on 5 December 2014. It would appear the new legislation will coincide the Police Scotland’s annual drink drive campaign.
The prescribed limits (in Scotland only) will be reduced to 50mg in 100ml of blood (from 80mg/100ml), 22ug in 100ml of breath (from 35ug/100ml) and 67mg in 100ml of urine (from 107mg/100ml).
These changes represent a significant alteration of the road traffic legislation and it is anticipated that there will be an increased number of drivers falling foul of these new reduced limits.
