CTD Test

Convicted Driver Insurance
When I went for my blood test I was told to take doctors details list of medication & name of any specialists I was under, all original documents
I got there and he said my Secretary normally deals with the paperwork. I got all the paperwork out and was told he didn't need it when I filled in my details he stoped me when I got to my doctors details, we then began answering the questions and I said about antidepressants and offered him my list of medication he said no he would just put the antidepressants down. This doesn't fill me with confidence it must seem to them that I'm not telling them everything
Did you take a look at the link for the M1 form ? That will be what they send you I would think.. if so take it to your doctors .. I just strolled in to my doctors with mine I did not make an appointment.. ask to see the doctors secretary as it's them that releases the info back to the DVLA not the doctor personally.. but they will have been written too also and may well have already released what info they have or what was requested .. my advice is try and mirror yours to as close as possible to there's as it's an offence to knowingly or not declare .. but obviously you don't want to declare something that may have no relevance .. I wrote a letter and attached it to the M1 .. you can also submit forms via email now as well as postal service.. I have been doing each reply by both methods as they can cancel the application if paper work is not present or to late .. the email address is
eftd@dvla.gov.uk

I had my medical a couple of days before you has yours and seen to be a couple if days a head of you in the DVLA system but identical situations.. so if I get an update before you get yours I will post it to here in the hope it helps

The timeframe that they work within is 8 weeks processing time could be as short as a week but as long as 8.

But jampda is correct in some cases it has taken a very long time, a man I attend AA with is currently waiting 8 months since his application with constant back and forth between DVLA and doctors.

So I need not think about starting my insurance just yet?
Alas I work in the motor trade and have had a nightmare keeping my business afloat with insurance. I had to take myself off as director to keep the trade policy .. they then cancelled it completely.. so in answer to your question that will be hard but far more easy to sort than the dvla situation. Should you not be able to get insured for an affordable amount try hourly / daily Insurance it may well be cost effective as 80% of the time vehicles sit on the drive or at work.. and it will also be usable as no claims too if used frequently

I have sent my M1 back they have received all my paper work back last we'd now I have been told they have contacted my doctors again any advice this is unreal I should have had my licence back 11th Aug ahhhhhhh

Unfortunately it's how they are .. mines 6 months approx now and my ban was up over a year ago .. they won't even issue a temporary licence.. good luck .. but without been negative .. I think I know what my outcome will be .. 2 fingers from the DVLA.. I think they are purposely using this method to keep som3 DD drivers from getting back on the road even though they have passed the medical and have a low enough CDT reading

Surely they can't prevent drivers from obtaining their license, there must be rules and regulations to follow otherwise that discrimination, maybe going to court could be an option...

In my opinion (which many will say is bias) I believe they do .. why in this day and age with email etc do they insist by doing everything through the post.. "because it slows it down" and this just adds to that process.. the last 20 years the world has evolved a Great deal .. the DVLA have not .. why is that?.. as for going to court yes that's an option.. but a court will not over rule a medical deduction.. I asked who does the forms and deals with it in the medical department and what qualifications they have. They medical qualification so on that alone it's very alarming

So basically your at there mercy I did the course to reduce my ban and gain some awareness I might as well have just saved my money as it still going to be the 30 months at this rate

I think the three of us are in the same boat here, I was revoked 16/01/19 for telling a doctor my alcohol consumption was 30 units a week I had no idea they had dropped it to 14, my first medical was on 7/5/19 was told they couldn't use it lost paperwork second medical 18/6/19 received results 0.8 still waiting for medical report from doctors (the 2nd) so much for 6 months for alcohol abuse it's been 9 months now and probably will have to go down the M1 route for antidepressants maybe sometime next year if I'm lucky...

The system is corrupt in my opinion .. you are judged on your passed .. but you do what the courts instruct then the DVLA ignore that and run around John Wayne doing what ever they like .. using "medical reasons" to get away with it .. if you pass your dvla medical you should have your licence back .. end of period
