when i returned to the police station to be charged following blood analysis i was asked if i wanted a duty solicitor for court and i said no i as was planning to use my own, however i now think the duty solicitor would be suitable for the case and wish to use the duty solicitor on the day. do i have to notify anyone or just in the morning at court notify somebody of my decision?

any help appreciated

You cannot speak to the Duty Solicitor before attending court.
When you arrive simply tell the court usher that you want to speak to the Duty Solicitor. The amount of time the Duty Solicitor is able to offer you will depend on how busy he/she is on that particular day. This is one of the weaknesses with the duty solicitor scheme as opposed to instructing a solicitor of your own choice.
