Hi, I was banned from driving however am now eligible to drive. I was a HRO. I've been mostly abstinent from alcohol for the past year however have had some bad relapses where I would drink constantly for a few weeks. I did a private CDT test after a period of abstinence and it came back 'GENETIC VARIANT' as in they couldn't test me. Which either means I have some sort of genetic variance within my make-up or I have serious liver disease. I think its probably the latter although I outwardly appear healthy.
My last drinking binge ended a week ago where I drank constantly for around 2 weeks very heavily. I want to apply for my license. I'm guessing by the time DVLA process everything, contact my GP and we arrange a medical I will be around 6-8 weeks clean from alcohol. I suppose its a roll of the dice as to how the CDT tests come out, my question is does anybody know the current time frames for DVLA processing? 2 months clean from a short binge should be ok for CDT?
