Before I begin, I'd just like to apologise to anyone who has been affected by the actions of a drink driver. There really is no excuse to get behind the wheel of a car drunk and I'm utterly appalled at my own behaviour for doing so.
Back in 2016 I was caught drink driving as I made my way up a one way street, in the early hours of the morning. I was over 4 times the limit and was banned from driving for 12 months and given a £550 fine. Last week I was caught again under the influence after I was reported going around a roundabout the wrong way. I then continued to drive and consequently crashed (minor). The story takes a strange turn as a member of the public jumped in my car and drove me to their house. Ridiculously, I then mixed alcohol with drugs and left the strangers house an hour or so later. After driving 10 miles in the direction of my home, I crashed my car on the motorway. I have since plead guilty to DD and dangerous driving. On this occasion I was 3.5 times over the limit. The whole evening for me is a complete blur and I have only managed to piece it together with the help of others. I'm not sure if the police were aware of the drugs that I'd taken or the fact a member of the public had driven my car away. The court has requested a Criminal Justice Social Work Report to get an insight into my background (past offences, personal circumstances etc.) and unfortunately, my record isn't squeaky clean. I'm 25 and over the past six years or so I have been charged and found guilty of a further two offences, both drink related. I'm not alcohol dependant but I suppose there is a part of me that has been using it to 'self medicate', if you like. I know life isn't a bed of roses and the social work report will uncover some personal struggles I've been dealing with, evidently very badly.
Now, I know how terribly this reads and I'm the first one to admit how reckless I have been but I really just have no idea how my sentencing will go. Any responses would be hugely appreciated.
