Can I become taxi driver DDR10

Hi I’ve been convicted of drunk driving last year. I got 12 month ban and with the course it reduced to 9 months. This was my first offence can I apply for private taxi licence once I got my licence or is it impossible. One of my friend told me I have to wait 3 years before I can apply after my conviction? Could you provide some advice on this thank you

Every taxi licensing authority can view this differently. The primary concern for the licensing authority is to decide if you are fit to hold a licence and will the public be at risk in the circumstances. You will need to check the criteria with your local licencing authority but it may be that they are prepared to consider the circumstances at a licencing review meeting. It would always be the case that the more time that has passed since the conviction, the better the chance of the application being granted.
