I’m looking for some advice from anyone who’s been through the DVLA drink-drive reduction course process.

I completed the drink-drive rehabilitation course in September. Since then, I’ve been going back and forth with DVLA, and they’ve confirmed to me that they have received all the required documents relating to the course and that it’s just waiting for the relevant team to update the system.

After that, as recommended by dvla I sent off a D1 application form along with a cover letter. That was over three weeks ago, and I’ve called today and they said they’re waiting for the court to send the confirmation?

Has anyone experienced similar delays at this stage? Is this just normal DVLA processing time, or is it worth chasing by phone / sending a follow-up?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Can you email the court asking for email or written confirmation, then forward this to DVLA?

It did take a few weeks for my ban date to update after my course provider sent the paperwork off. But it shouldn't take 4 months!

I don't think I can answer the question specifically as it sounds like you are in the process of trying to get your licence back.

I did my DDRS course a week after my conviction to get it out of the way and it took, from memory, 8 months before the check licence showed the new (earlier) date. I emailed and called the courts with copies of the certificates to make sure it hadn't been missed as I was approaching the time I should be getting my licence back after the reduction. It did eventually update, whether that was due to me chasing or just because that's how long it took, I will never know.

But keep on them.
