As you have technically, ie legally, done nothing wrong and have an exceptional attitude (IMO) . It seems a shame the insurance company effectively got away with paying out. That's kinda what they are there for, and u have been through hell and I suspect, would never go near alcohol before driving again. They really should provide the funds for a replacement vehicle. Good luck with whatever you decide, you have more than paid the price for the unproven 'offence'.

Thank you, that’s so kind. The car has gone now to scrap after I got it released from the pound, so that door is closed and I still don’t feel ready to drive in all honesty. Not that I’d ever find myself in that situation again, I just want to do this right. It was all a bit of a mess so need to be sure I do the right thing! Best wishes to you

If so you're in the clear. It can't be brought before magistrates and unless you committed a triable either way offence like causing serious injury by dangerous driving, you're clear.

In which case you should be able to get decent insurance offers.

Agree with @stu12341234 to double check the DVLA site to be sure you haven't somehow been convicted in your absence.

If so you're in the clear. It can't be brought before magistrates and unless you committed a triable either way offence like causing serious injury by dangerous driving, you're clear.

In which case you should be able to get decent insurance offers.
