Hi all
I’m coming to the end of my first one year medical licence and I’m wondering whether I’m likely to be told I need to medical again?
I had my licence suspended because of mental health concerns (bipolar diagnosis) and I stupidly disclosed on the form that I’d gone through a period of 5 months self medication with alcohol. Boom, instant 12 months sobriety.
Anyway, two years of messing about and absolute sobriety later and they sent me for a medical and I received my 1 year licence.
I’m a controlled drinker (in comparison to past intake), drink twice a week, usually no more than three pints on a Wednesday when I play snooker and on a Friday or a Saturday when my neighbour pops over and we have a four pack and a jack or two each. Some weeks I don’t drink at all, depends on what’s happening at home really
My question is two fold, is this intake likely to raise CDT? I went for a drink for a colleagues leaving do last weekend and we drank quite a bit, can’t remember how much (circa13/14 pints I’d imagine over 12 hours). How long would you leave it until you agree to a medical with this binge and usual intake considered? I don’t think my use is excessive day to day, but then I’d like advice on whether you agree if poss.
I work in public sector so can’t be without my licence. Medical licence doesn’t expire until end of December so if I time it correctly I should be okay right!?
TIA
