Sending my license back...?

I have been convicted of DD with a 14 month ban (reduced with the DD course) I got a letter from DVLA requesting me to send my license back.

On the form are 2 options - I am sending it back, or not, for various reasons - one of which is 'other' which is the same tick box.

My issue - I always get asked for i.d. when buying items under the 'look under 25' scheme, so I would like to keep hold of it - for proof of age/ i.d.
I am not a student (no student card). I work full-time.

Is it ok to tick the 'other' option and keep my license - it's still a way to confirm to DVLA that it's no longer valid, is that correct?

I just don't want any more issues coming up. I feel stupid enough as it is

Anyway, thanks in advance

I see many people on the course who still have their licence with them having “found” it after it was apparently lost......
Technically wrong but only badly wrong if you tried to represent it as a current licence to get a job that required one, or to actually show it to the police when stopped.

Thank you Price, I re-called reading something similar here but couldn't find it so wanted to check.

God, this is going the be the longest year of my life :(
