If a person has the old style paper driving licence and had to submit it to court after a drink driving conviction, will they get their paper licence back or will they have to get a photo card licence?
No they would not get the old style licence back.
Whenever the licence is surrendered, for a change of address or on disqualification, DVLA never reissue it, it is always a new photo licence.
My wife still has her old paper one, because we have not moved house for over 24 years. There is talk of phasing them out in 2017, but nothing firm yet that I am aware of.
