URGENT ADVICE ON MEDICAL REQUIRED

Hello there!

My ban for drink driving finished over a year ago. I am due to take a medical test as I was breathalysed and got a measure of just under 90mg. I have a few questions:

1. Can I get a provisional license before I have undertaken the medical examination?

2. I am a healthy fit male aged 21, and drink every few weeks. If I were to smoke cannabis (quite a large amount) on a one off session (holiday to amsterdam), how long do you believe it would take to get out my system? (I smoke occasionally, once every 2 months and not a large amount)

3. How long is the whole process of applying and undertaking the medical? For example, the whole process from: filling out my medical form and sending it off, to actually undertaking the medical.

Thanks a lot, your help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

As you were disqualified prior to 1st June 2013, once you have applied for your licence back you can ask to be allowed to drive under section 88 Road Traffic Act 1988 pending the outcome of your medical. You should ask DVLA to confirm this in writing so you have a letter to show the police if you are stopped.
You mention a provisional licence.... If you had a full licence before, that is what you will be able to drive under when DVLA confirm S88. Unless the court told you to retake your test?
the blood sample is only tested for CDT, which shows problems with your liver associated with alcohol abuse. They do not test for other substances unless your medical questionnaire indicates use of an illegal substance.
the time frame can vary greatly, read other posts and you will see how it has worked out for people. Some say 6 weeks, some have reported several months.
