ive lodged a claim for crashing my car into a wall with my insurer and failed to tell them i was over the limit... am i obliged to tell them or not..??

any input would be much appreciated

You need to be very careful about not disclosing material facts to your insurance company. You may feel that not telling the whole truth about your claim is not lying, but I doubt that they will take that view. If they apply to the police for a copy of their accident report (if they attended) then it will come out anyway.
