They blood test for CDT - Carbohydrate Deficient Transferrin. This marker shows heavy drinking over a sustained amount of time. So if you've been throwing a couple bottles of wine down your neck for a couple months (or even as little as a couple weeks), this will show an elevated level. In fact, as little as 50g-100g of alcohol per day over a couple weeks can elevate the levels. Drinking within government guidelines should not alter a CDT level.

It doesn't take long for CDT to clear. Studies suggest a half life of around 14 days and a complete clearance of about 1-2 months. However, it could take as much as 12 weeks for your CDT marker to fully clear.

As far as I know, CDT doesn't test positive for cannabis use.

If you've not drank since December, you should be in the clear as far as the medical is concerned, dependent on how much you were drinking and how regularly.
