hi my father in law was caught drink driving 2 weeks ago. his reading was 128 so nearly 4 times over. he had been socialising and drinking with family and had quite a bit to drink. some time later about 12 in the morning he decided to go out and get something from the local takeaway and was stopped on the way as his lights were not on. he was not driving erratically and fully co operated with the police.he has been to court once and he was then told to see a probation officer next week to prepare a pre sentence report and then will attend court for sentencing in august.

he has a dependent wife and mother - is the only wagearner in the household

may not be able to go to work after ban as travelling to work via public transport would mean 2.5 hrs each way and being out of pocket. there is no direct transport links to the place he works at. he is 55 so probably too old to get something else. also his health is not the best. he has problems with his knee.so a bad situation.

he has got 2 character references and has never been in trouble before.

help?? thankyou

Are you positive that his wife and/or mother will not be able to find supplementary income?

The only solution after that would be to move closer to your workplace (probably infeasible given your situation), or to find new work closer to home.
