Declaring car as SORN

I would be grateful for some advice and clarification.

I have just been disqualified for 12 months.

If I declare my car as SORN, and keep it garaged on private land, am I right that I won't need to insure it or MOT it until I re-tax it when my ban finishes?

I would say this is correct. I do not habeas a car to sorn as it looks like it will be a write off but i'm cashing in the 10 months of road tax and will then inform them that my car if for scrap :-( All the best x
