does a urine test for drugs take longer?

a fortnight ago I had to have a medical to give a urine sample (not blood, just urine) which they will test for drugs. I still don't know either way and it's been 14 days. I was reading the other thread where people who have had a CDT blood test often hear the results in less than a week.

If it's a CDT blood test is it tested by the dr who took the sample or sent away? I was told my urine sample would be sent to Birmingham and from there to the DVLA.

CDT tests are sent away to an independent laboratory for analysis. The same happens with urine samples for drug analysis. I don’t know the turnaround time for drug samples....
