Convicted Driver Insurance

Hello,

Due to get my licence back in a couple months and I just wondered if anyone had any suggestions for car insurance?
I've had a look on compare sites and I have put in the correct information about my conviction however, I just wanted to know if anyone has had problems with these quotes - I know a lot of them you can ring up and it ends up being another £500! Has any had any issues with being insured with certain companies? Any which will apply discount if the driving course has been completed?

Any information would be very helpful.

Thanks,
Lou

Lou,
if you have completed one of our drink drive courses you should have been given a yellow booklet with information about getting your licence back and insurance brokers that offer decent rates to clients completing our course.
If you did the course with us and have mislaid it, send me a PM and I will send the details to you.

I didn't complete the course with yourselves unfortunately.
I have a question you may be able to help me with though - would I have points on my licence from the drink driving or not?

Traitor, but I will still help you......
Your driving record will show disqualification, (and the length of the ban AFTER the course) then Code DR10, or DR30 if you failed to supply.
you do not get points for drink driving, unless the court finds special reasons to not disqualify, which is very rare.

I'M SORRY haha!
Thank you :), wasn't too sure on that one.
Just got to get my medical out the way now ahhhhhhhhh

Have you tried the ones we have listed. You can find several insurance companies who offer competitive quotes for convicted drivers here.

I tried many of the specialist insurance companies, but found they were far too expensive. I used two comparison sites, entered all my details including details of my conviction and got a great deal with Tesco

(sorry price :) )

Helen, no offence taken! You didn't get the list that we use as you did a course with another provider. I would agree that the ones that we are linked to are not always the cheapest, but there again some insurance companies refuse to insure someone with a drink drive conviction for 5 years. We say that you should check your own previous insurance company first, then compare against that. Females are often given the most favourable rates after a drink drive conviction, (even though they are not supposed to discriminate on gender these days) particularly those over 30. Happy motoring!
