Convicted and unsure of how long i must claim convictions on my insurance

I was convicted in June 2007 of a dr10, the offence happened on new years morning 2007. I'm wondering how long I must claim the offence on my insurance. I've heard its 5 years but is that from the date of the actual offence or the date I was convicted?

You must disclose all relevant convictions to insurance companies when asked to do so for a period of 5 years from the date of conviction.
