hi, nearly 4 years ago i got 6 points for a no insurance and as this was within the first 2 years i had my license revoked, having retaken the test now i find myself subject to a drink drive charge witha 2 year ban.
if i breach the points barrier again i am liable to a 5 year instant ban.....if i take a ban on drink driving will this incur 6 or more points? if so will i then face 2 years followed by 5 years?

To clarify, there is no 5 year disqualification for 'totting up' in respect of your penalty points, this is usually a 6 month ban for a first disqualification. (Your previous case resulted in the revocation of your licence rather than a disqualification). If you are disqualified for a period of 2 years for the drink driving offence then this should be the total disqualification that is imposed. Even if penalty points are endorsed for this or any other offence, it should only result in a 6-12 month disqualification which would run alongside your drink driving ban.
