hi,1st of all let me start by saying happy new year to all the admin and members

in july 2005 i was convicted of drink driving after my drink was spiked by ex partner,
i obviously was banned,
my question is as its nearly 9.5 yr ago do i have to declare this to employers?
i am applying for a hgv job with a agency ( dr10 was 6 year before i took my hgv) and wondering if i have to tell them etc as i always thought it was a spent conviction after 5 years and when i told the last i had it on my licence they refused me the job even though its nearly 10yr old

thanks in advance for any replys to this question
regards
sean

A check for a 'normal' job will only show the conviction for a period of 5 years. However if your job requires a DBS check (the enhanced version) then it will show up for 11 years if this is your only offence, however if you have any further convictions it will never be spent.

The conviction however will remain on your driving licence for a period of 11 years, so whilst the conviction will not show up on a normal check, it can still be seen on your licence.
