Hi,I've just received a letter from dvla, saying I've failed the cdt test, result 3.9%,I was convicted in May 2006 and banned for 3 years,I have reduced my drinking a lot since this time, and stopped for 7days before my medical, should I appeal this decision?
The fact that you have reduced your drinking does not necessarily mean that it is within acceptable levels. The test does not just look over the last 7 days as it is aimed at showing whether people either persistently misuse alcohol or are dependant on it. You should only appeal the DVLA's decision if you feel that the results shown in the test are inaccurate. If you accept the reading then I would advise that you simply reduce your alcohol intake, or stop altogether before re-taking it.
