Convicted Driver Insurance

Hello, got caught driving over a limit, as it wasn't too much I had a chance to give blood. Result came back 0.96. I have 2 little kids and a job is the only income, but requires driving, as I'm a sales rep. What are my chances? Any chance to avoid a ban?(Last ban was on 10/11/2003, court date 10/07/2014).

I'm afraid that if you simply plead guilty to the offence then you will face a mandatory disqualification, regardless of your personal circumstances. The sentencing guidelines for a reading of 96 in blood advise a 12-16 month disqualification and a Band C, means tested fine. You should also request to attend the drink drive rehabilitation course which will reduce the length of your disqualification by up to 25% upon completion.

If you are completely reliant on your licence I would suggest that you speak to a solicitor who specialises in this field to see if the police have made any procedural errors when taking your blood sample. If this can be proven then it may be the case that the specimens will be rendered inadmissable. You are welcome to contact my department on 0333 999 7158.
