Reducing an eighteen-month ban due to personal circumstances.

On the 29th March 2012 I was banned for eighteen months following a drink driving offence. I was offered and completed a rehabilitation course and paid my complete fine immediately. The course will reduce my ban by eighteen weeks.
The reason for my question is that my husband suddenly passed away in November and my Mother whom I live with had a stroke before Christmas leaving her unable to drive. She is also a Stage IV cancer sufferer. I am now a single mother of three young children living in an extremely rural location and now responsible for a sick parent.
Is there any way at all I can appeal for a reduction of my ban?
I would appreciate any advice.
Thank you.

I am sorry to hear of the difficulties this driving ban is causing you, unfortunately an application to return your licence early can only be made after 2 years disqualification has been served. The only other way to get a reduction in the sentence would be to appeal, however this would only reduce the sentence by a couple of months at most and would be entirely at the discretion of the Court as to whether it is reduced at all.
