DUI in Belgium

Convicted Driver Insurance
Hi,

I was involved in a drunk driving accident on 15 Dec. I was completely intoxicated with a bac of 1.07. The legal limit in Belgium in 0.35. I do not recollect anything from the accident.

As per the police reports I was completely out of conscious and had committed multiple offences on the highway. I parked my car on a, no parking/ no waiting area, drove with all 4 indicators on, changed lanes with no indications, skipped 2 stop signs and failed to stop when the cops asked me to.
I then changed directions ( took a left) where normally I had to stop and give way and hit a curb. The car went out of control and I hit another car and came to halt. It was only after the accident, that I realised that I was driving. I then immediately obliged to the cops and cooperated with them.

I know I have done a very big mistake.

I received a letter stating that I need to appear in court next month.

What kind of charges/penalties might I be facing?
will my insurance cover for 3rd party damages?

Unfortunately I am only able to advise on UK law, I would suggest that you contact a local solicitors firm in Belgium who will be able to assist you.
