My boyfriend has recently been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and will be going to court in two weeks. I believe he blew 80 at the police station. He also has 6 points on his licence (for driving with no insurance). I was just wondering what to expect to happen at court - what is the average punishment (if there is one)? Is there anything to do to reduce the ban on his driving licence? I've read somewhere there is a course you can take to reduce the ban if completed? Also How long will it stay on his record for?

He is likely to receive a ban and a fine although the lowest ban is 9 months after the course has been completed. He may be best with an early guilty plea but it depends on what happened. There are often ways to avoid a ban but good legal advice will be required when he attends court.
