Hello,
I have been granted a hearing for Special reasons on Sept 8th and i have legal Aid. I was wondering, if I think I don't longer have special reasons due to various and complicated reasons, can I ask that the court tries me under normal conditions without special reasons? I.e normal Drink Driving. Is it too late to say that I am sure I no longer have special reasons?
Many Thanks

Yes it is open to you to abandon your special reasons submission. If you do so the hearing can be used as a normal plea of mitigation. The decision to abandon your special reasons can be made at any point between now and the hearing.

Before making that decision it would be wise to seek specialist advice to determine whether your special reasons submission is still viable.
